AMEC AMTEX, the Spanish Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, is completing the details facing the Spanish participation in ITMA ASIA trade-fair

From 17th to 21st October 2005, the second edition of the ITMA ASIA trade-fair will be held in Singapore. 18 Spanish companies will be attending with a stand, presenting the latest technologies in the following sub-sectors: spinning, dyeing and finishing, knitting, weaving and non-woven fabrics.

In the last few years, textile production has been moving towards Asian countries such as Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Pakistan and Taiwan, becoming the main textile-product exporting countries. The fast increase in textile production is at the same time boosting the technological development of machinery. Today, Asia offers numerous challenges and business opportunities for foreign firms.

The ITMA ASIA is an excellent opportunity for companies, in order to be able to continue deepening in a better mutual knowledge and for promoting relationships amongst businesses. The trade-fair represents the ideal framework for reaching long-term trading and co-operation agreements between Spanish and Asian companies.

Spanish Textile Machinery in Asia

Exports of Spanish textile machinery in Asia continue to grow. In 2004, with respect to 2003, they increased a 17%, and represent 26% of total Spanish exports.

Spanish manufacturers are making great efforts in Innovation and Internationalisation. As far as internationalisation: year 2005 supposes a definitive bet by Spanish companies in the Asian market, carrying out 80% of the promotion activities in Asia, which includes, amongst others, group participation in trade-fairs such as the IGATEX (Pakistan) and SHANGAITEX (China). As far as Innovation: we can claim that 85% of companies develop R+D+i projects. Spain has Technological Centres and Universities specialised in the different textile sub-sectors and with an international prestige and closely related with the companies working side by side in the development of new equipment. Companies in the sector today hold leading positions in their specialities.
